Roka, Aldwych. Bottomless Brunch Review.

Available on Saturdays and Sundays, the Roka Aldwych bottomless brunch is not one to miss. Enjoy 12 courses of Japanese food in a contemporary setting, washed down with unlimited red or white wine throughout your meal… umm yes. Count me in!

Aldwych; £££ (Bottomless lunch offer – amazing food, followed by bottomless wine. £42/ 59 p/p not inc. service) – 4.2/5

What did we eat

A LOT…

You enjoy a selection of 10 shared starters (the avocado and gobo maki with crispy rice and tempura are particularly delicious) followed by a main course chosen from the robata (Japanese BBQ) or main kitchen.

The mains we had – all delicious, top three highly recommended

  • Salmon fillet teriyaki with Sancho salt – divine. Melts in your mouth
  • Baby chicken, lemon, miso and garlic soy
  • Glazed baby back ribs with cashew nuts
  • Beef sirloin, chilli and spring onion

If 11 courses weren’t enough for you, then you’re in luck. Feast your eyes on the elaborate dessert platter with enough chocolate, sorbets and mousses to have you rolling yourself out of the restaurant.

Unlimited wine served throughout the meal, be warned, the alcohol stops when the last plates are cleared.(We also received a Bellini on arrival and unlimited Prosecco as we bought an offer on Timeout… yummy!)

So how was the food?

Very good.

Service and atmosphere:

Great. The restaurant has a contemporary Japanese design with the open robata kitchen in the middle of the floor, allowing you to see what the chefs are cooking. Whilst the chefs aren’t Japanese, they occasionally chant Japanese welcomings which adds a fun element to the meal.

Value for money:

Very good. We had a Timeout offer which meant that the meal was quite reasonable (£42 p/p not including service). Usually the bottomless brunch will set you back £59 a head.

Would I go back:

Yes! Next time I would like to try Roka, Canary Wharf for brunch or Charlotte street for dinner, as they all have a slightly different vibe.

If you’re going to go:

See if you can find an offer on Timeout before booking.

Best for:

Family meals, late lunches, pre-theatre dining
